簡介

Since my early childhood, I have nurtured an unwavering passion for birds and the natural world. Thankfully, I've had the privilege of contributing to the Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute (TBRI) since 1998, originally known as the "Endemic Species Research Institute" of Taiwan. Founded in 1992, TBRI is a government organization committed to advancing biodiversity conservation through meticulous surveys, in-depth research, and educational initiatives. My professional pursuits are deeply rooted in applied science, primarily focusing on ornithology, conservation biology, endangered species management, and comprehensive large-scale biodiversity monitoring.
 
I've had the honor of participating in various projects throughout my career. These encompass extensive bird resource inventories spanning Taiwan, rigorous surveys and assessments of alien bird species in Taiwan, and the in-depth study of the ecology of the globally 'vulnerable' Fairy Pitta, among other multifaceted research endeavors.
 
Since 2009, I've actively collaborated with partners from TBRI, National Taiwan University, Taiwan Wild Bird Federation, and other esteemed institutions. Together, we have undertaken the development and execution of multiple national bird biodiversity monitoring projects within Taiwan. A pivotal tool in these projects is "Citizen Science," a potent mechanism enabling us to mobilize a legion of volunteers to support our research initiatives. The outcomes of each monitoring project culminate in the generation of crucial indicators that faithfully represent the status of a diverse range of species. These indicators, in turn, play a pivotal role in shaping conservation strategies and formulating meticulous management plans.
 
More recently, Taiwan has embarked on a vigorous pursuit of ground-based photovoltaics. Recognizing the potential impact on bird habitats, particularly those frequented by "waterbirds," our research endeavors have taken a new direction. Our focus now centers on meticulously monitoring alterations in Taiwan's waterbird populations amid the proliferation of ground-based photovoltaic installations. Simultaneously, we are diligently working on implementing measures to mitigate potential disruptions to waterbird populations. These measures primarily encompass habitat enhancement and other prudent habitat management practices.
 
自小我就對野鳥和自然充滿熱情。值得感激的是，我自1998年起就有幸能在臺灣農業部生物多樣性研究所(TBRI, 前身為「特有生物研究保育中心」)服務。TBRI成立於1992年，致力於藉由縝密調查、深入研究和教育活動來推進生物多樣性保育。我的專業追求深深植根於應用科學，主要聚焦於鳥類學、保育生物學、受脅物種管理以及大範圍的生物多樣性監測。

自2009年以來，我積極與臺灣生物多樣性研究所、國立台灣大學、中華民國野鳥學會等機構的合作夥伴合作。我們共同推動多個臺灣鳥類生物多樣性監測計畫。在這些專案中，「公民科學」是一個至關重要的工具，使我們能與眾關心自然的觀察者一起長期且深入臺灣的許多角落。每個監測計畫的結果產生的指標反映了各種物種在臺灣的狀態。這些指標又在形塑保育策略和制定細緻管理計畫上扮演重要角色。

近期臺灣開始大力推動進地面光電。考慮到鳥類棲地的潛在影響，尤其是「水鳥」，監測地面光電擴散對臺灣水鳥族群變化的關聯，同時研擬措施提升水鳥棲地品質，則是目前新興的研究重點。
